What's Grounded?

Grounded gives biomes massively more distinct identities, down to the very soil they stand on. Badlands now sport cracked, dry earthen clay. Tundra dirt has frozen into deep permafrost. REST OF THE SOILS These soils aren't just pretty either--each incentivises growing certain crops faster on them, based on those crops' real life growing preferences.

Grounded primarily adds 5* new soil types that generate in the world.

  • Earthen Clay is found in savannas and badlands.
  • Wheat and Bamboo grow faster in Earthen Clay Farmland.
  • Loam is found in dark forests and jungles.
  • Sweet Berry Bushes, Pumpkins and Melons grow faster in Loam Farmland.
  • Permafrost is found in snowy mountains and frozen taigas.
  • There is no permafrost farmland, and the block does not affect crops. However, digging Permafrost with fortune might reveal long-frozen treasures...
  • Sandy Dirt is found in savannas.
  • Carrots, Beetroots, and Farmer's Delight Cabbages grow faster in Sandy Farmland.
  • Silt is found in riverbeds, swamps, and aquifers.
  • Wheat, Potatoes, Farmer's Delight Cabbages and Onions, as well as Supplementaries Flax grow faster in Silty Farmland.

Each soil has their own paths, farmlands, and grassy and coarse versions.

Mulch and Nulch are decorative blocks that cover the base of the stem of plants placed on them, as if in a heaped flowerbed.

Villages now have paths made from the appropriate soils for their biomes, as well as having their respective farmlands growing their ideal crops.
