The Ultimate Mod Manager

Description

Description

For questions, comments, bug reports, or suggestions you can join Ghaelen's Workshop [Discord].

This is a mod manager that runs inside of Vintage Story: No external executables. No external GUI. Everything is in-game, tightly integrated with Vintage Story assets, GUI, and API.

Why Did You Write It?

The hosting service I'm using is great, but there's no shell, terminal access, or FTP access. There are some great mod managers out there, and one even supports my use-case, but the instructions are complicated, and I'm too lazy to read and implement the hoop jumping. So for me, keeping mods updated on the remote server is a painfully manually and tedious process, so I'm doing what any extremely lazy person does: I'm making a mod to do the work for me.

How Do I Use It?

There are 3 ways to use the UMM (you must be an "op", obviously):

The in-game GUI

The in-game chat

Your hosting service's web console

How Do I Use the GUI?

Just type
/umm
.

How Do I Use the In-Game Chat Interface?

Here's the workflow:

Find out what needs updating with:
/umm update plan
.

Stage the mods for updating.

Stage all the mod updates with
/umm update stage all

Stage individual mod updates with
/umm update stage <modid>
, e.g.
/umm update stage betterruins

Reboot the server.

How Do I Use the Web Console Interface?

It's exactly the same as the in-game chat interface.

Other Info

When "Up to date" is green, the mod is tagged for your currently running game version, but when it's yellow, the latest mod version is not taggged for your game version, and you should exercise caution when updating it.

As of version 0.7.0, UMM can self-update, but I recommend you read this to familiarize yourself with self-updating before doing it.

As of version 0.6.0, UMM can be scheduled to perform regular and scheduled updates without human intervention (but you still need to reboot the server manually).

I can be reached on Discord via CaffeineNYC. My ModDB profile is here.

If you're an artist, I would love to feature your artwork on my mod pages. Reach out to me on Discord if you'd like to donate some artwork to be displayed on ModDB.

Very detailed info can be found here.

Artwork

Józef Chełmoński (1849–1914) is a Polish artist who painted in the "realist" style. He's famous among art connosuers, and of course famous in Poland, but I don't think he ever received the due he deserved on the international art scene. He's one of my favorite artists. This painting is his 1900 work Bociany (“Storks”).
