<h1>Bitterbrew — Vintage Story 1.22.3<br /><br /></h1> <p>Coffee has arrived for 1.22.3 — and it just got a whole lot stronger.</p> <p>Bitterbrew adds a complete, multi-stage coffee system to Vintage Story — from wild bushes to a steaming mug, with custom items, 3D models, shelf life mechanics, meaningful buffs, and full compatibility with Hydrate or Diedrate. The Espresso Update brings a new grinder block, an entirely new roast tier, three new drinks, and optional fruit latte variants through Expanded Foods and A Culinary Artillery.<br /><br /></p> <p><strong><em>Inspired by <a href="https://mods.vintagestory.at/vintagecoffee">KritterBizkit's Vintage Coffee</a></em></strong></p> <hr /> <h2>🌿 Coffee Bushes<br /><br /></h2> <p>Coffee bushes spawn naturally in warm, wet climates and cycle through three visible growth stages: empty, flowering, and ripe. Harvest a ripe bush to collect Raw Coffee Beans and 1–2 Coffee Seeds as a bonus drop.</p> <p>Coffee Seeds can be planted on soil, farmland, peat, or grass to grow your own bushes anywhere. Planted bushes follow the same growth cycle and temperature requirements as wild ones.<br /><br /></p> <hr /> <h2>⛓️ The Full Processing Chain<br /><br /></h2> <p>Coffee in Bitterbrew demands patience and rewards it.</p> <p><strong>1. Drying</strong> Raw beans can't be roasted fresh from the bush. Seal any amount in a barrel and wait 24 in-game hours. They emerge as Green Coffee Beans.<br /><br /></p> <p><strong>2. Roasting</strong> Roast green beans in a firepit, oven, or Panda Hearth Baking Sheet to advance through four roast levels. Each additional roast produces a bolder flavour and stronger effects:<br /><br /></p> <blockquote> <p>Green → Yellow <em>(Light)</em> → Brown <em>(Medium)</em> → Dark Brown <em>(Dark)</em> → <strong>Espresso</strong></p> </blockquote> <p><strong><br />3. Grinding</strong> Grind any roasted bean in the <strong>Coffee Grinder</strong> to produce the matching Coffee Grounds — Light, Medium, Dark Roast, or Espresso Roast.<br /><br /></p> <p><strong>4. 🛢️ Barrel Brewing (Cold Brew)</strong> Seal coffee grounds and water in a barrel for 24 in-game hours. The result is Cold Brew at the matching roast level — stable, drinkable immediately, no heating required. <em>(Light, Medium, and Dark Roast only — Espresso does not produce a Cold Brew.)<br /><br /></em></p> <p><strong>5. 🏺 Coffeepot Brewing (Hot Coffee)</strong> The clay Coffeepot brews directly over a Firepit with a visible cooking cycle. Add water to the liquid slot, grounds to the grounds slot, and wait for the progress bar. The result is Hot Coffee at the matching roast — stronger buffs than cold brew.<br /><br /></p> <p><strong>6. ♨️ Reheating Cold Brew</strong> Pour Cold Brew into a Coffeepot on a lit Firepit and run the same cooking cycle to convert it to Hot Coffee with no grounds needed.<br /><br /></p> <hr /> <h2>🌡️ Hot vs. Cold<br /><br /></h2> <p>Hot Coffee provides the strongest buffs but cools back to Cold Brew after 2 in-game hours if left undrunk.
