ABy AkLeParpaingue

Diversifies panning loot by rock type and method, plus a craftable automated river sluice.

Description

Thanks to Mathmonnier79 for the help

Diversifies panning loot based on the geological category of the panned sand/gravel (igneous / sedimentary / metamorphic), gives hand panning, the river sluice and the mechanical sluice different reward biases, and adds two craftable sluice blocks plus a soldering workbench.

Geological loot categories

Panning drops are split into three geological profiles covering all vanilla rock types:

Igneous (andesite, basalt, granite, peridotite) native copper, cassiterite, native gold, flint

Sedimentary (bauxite, chalk, chert, claystone, conglomerate, limestone, sandstone, shale) native copper, limonite, hematite, blue clay, flint

Metamorphic (phyllite, slate) native copper, graphite, native gold, flint

Each profile has its own flint rate and its own mix of ores/minerals, on top of the usual ruins debris (rusty gears, metal scraps/parts, and rare lore items) which is unchanged from vanilla. This applies to hand panning and to both sluices. Rock types added by other mods fall back to a generic averaged table instead of getting no drops at all.

Hand panning vs. the sluices

The three methods aren't identical each is biased toward a different kind of reward:

Hand panning favors scrap and salvage (rusty gears, metal scraps/parts)

The river sluice favors ore and minerals (nuggets, clay, graphite)

The mechanical sluice half as much stone and flint, and the best ore odds of the three

Same base drop tables, different odds depending on how you process the material.

The river sluice

A craftable block that processes sand/gravel automatically while sitting in a flowing water source no more standing there panning by hand one block at a time.

Placement: must be placed directly on the very tip of a flowing water source (the last block before the current stops spreading), with its screen facing the water so the current flows in through it and out the other side. Get the orientation wrong and it won't let you place it at all.

Feeding: right-click it with a pannable block (sand/gravel) to load the feed ledge one block at a time, worth 8 processing charges.

Processing: fully automatic while valid water flow is present. Consumes one charge per cycle and drops the washed loot on the ground at the outlet. Cycle speed depends on how strong the current is a rapid current processes faster than a classic one. Plays the same sound as manual panning while it works.

Crafting & appearance: crafted from resin, planks, metal strips and a soldered mesh screen. The metal you use and the wood species of the planks (if all the same species) are baked right into the sluice's look.

The mechanical sluice

A powered, self-contained version of the sluice: no river needed, no loot scattered on the ground. It runs off your mechanical network and keeps everything it washes in its own internal storage.

Power: connect an angled gear to the side the block is facing. Processing speed scales from 1x to 1.75x manual panning speed with how fast the network is turning below the activation threshold it won't run at all. The animation follows the real processing speed.

Water: a built-in 50-litre tank, filled with a bucket. No flowing water required, so it can be built anywhere in your base.

Interface: right-click to open it. Up to 16 blocks of sand/gravel go in the input slot, and 10 output slots hold the washed loot. One block is consumed at a time and yields 8 loot rolls.

Loot bias: the most ore-focused method in the mod half as much stone and flint as the other two, and the highest nugget/mineral odds.

Building it (two stages): craft the base (metal strips, nails and strips, planks, one angled gear, hammer) and place it, grease it with 4 rendered fat, then craft the top piece (planks, one mesh screen, nails and strips, hammer) and right-click the greased base with it to finish the assembly. The metal and wood must match between the two halves. Break an unfinished machine and the grease already applied is given back to you.

Solder station & mesh screens

Both sluices need a mesh screen, and mesh screens aren't made on a crafting grid they're soldered by hand on a new workbench.

The station: built around a small forge (2 fireclay ceramic tiles, 1 forge, 5 planks, 1 metal plate). The wood and metal used are baked into its look and kept when it's broken.

Metal strips: forged on the anvil from a metal plate, in 8 metals (tin bronze, bismuth bronze, black bronze, iron, meteoric iron, steel, stainless steel, electrum).

Soldering: hold a strip and shift+right-click the worktop to pick a recipe, then right-click each grid slot to lay a strip down. Heat a soldering iron in the firebox (fuelled with coal or lignite), then with the hot iron in your main hand and a solder bar in your off hand, weld each junction one by one.

Result: once every junction is welded, the finished mesh screen is handed t
