Equus: Medieval Horses

SBy Shintharo12

Adds a medieval warhorse to the game that can be purchased from a new horse trader

Equus: Medieval Horses

Description

Equus: Medieval Horses

This mod adds medieval warhorses known as Destriers. These do not spawn in the wild, you'll need to buy them from our new Stablemaster (price is configurable using configlib)

I started working on this mod on the first anniversary of our other horse mod "Equus: Wild Horses", which was a little over a month ago (at the time of this mod's release).

I've learnt and grown a lot this past year and I wanted to give horses another go :3

While it does fall under the same equus banner this mod (equusdestrier) is a standalone mod and doesn't require equus to be installed, you can use them side by side just fine though ^^

Currently includes:

  • The Destrier (with genelib coat genetics and different age stages)
  • A new trader outpost which houses our 3 new horse related traders (has climate specific variants)
  • Functional barding/armor for your destrier
  • Destrier specific saddles, bridles, saddlebags, blankets and pillion
  • Hitching posts (destriers will stay near the hitching post, doesn't require any rope shennanigans)

Roadmap:

  • Lances
  • A gene checker of sorts
  • Crossbreeding
  • Adding horses from other mods to the trader

Known issues (not necessarily caused by this mod):

  • Horses will on rare occasion spawn with an overlay (roan, socks, facial markings) even if they genetically don't meet the requirements for these overlays, reloading the world or equipping an attachment might cause that overlay to dissapear
  • Any mount or vehicle entity has a chance to be despawned by the game when the game crashes or a chunk loads too quickly, the ownership marker does sometimes survive even if the entity doesn't (this doesn't stop you from claiming a new one)
  • If you're using the sprint toggle setting then the snaffle bit bridle won't work as intended, consider either using a curb bit bridle or disabling sprint toggle

Dependencies

To use this mod you need to have the following installed:

if you want to use the config you need to have configlib and its dependencies installed (on both server and client in multiplayer)

Recommended mods

  • Tack and Equipment (adds a bunch of new saddles and bridles that also work on the Destrier in version 1.1.0)
  • Footprints (adds lil hoofprints)
  • Natural fertilizer (if you feed your horse it'll make manure that you can turn into fertilizer for your farm)

Found a bug?

When reporting a bug please list the following in your comment:

  • What version of equusdestrier, jaunt and genelib you have installed
  • What version of the game you're on
  • What events led up to the issue occuring, can you recreate the issue, if yes then how?
  • Does it occur when only equusdestrier, jaunt and genelib are installed?
  • Does anything weird pop up in the client-main and server-main logs?

Comments that just say "this doesn't work" without any additional information do not help me

Please remember that I work on this mod in the limited free time that I have outside of my fulltime job, it can take me a while to find and fix bugs

FAQ

  • Can you use a boneflute for the horse?
    • No you have to use the Jaunt flute and bind it to destriers first using the toolmode
