Fat Nutrition

<p>It's always bothered me that you could eat fat, but it gives Protein nutrition. Fat is its own macronutrient, and it's right there! You can eat a whole handful of lard! Fat is one of the most important building blocks of life! Instead we have the relatively arbitrary Dairy nutrition category, which for all intents and purposes is essentially a way to get fat into your diet (being that cheese is almost entirely fat), but is locked behind lategame animal husbandry. I didn't like that very much, so I changed it.</p> <h3><span style="text-decoration: underline;">What This Mod Does</span></h3> <ul> <li>The <strong>"Dairy"</strong> nutrition category has been renamed to <strong>"Fat".</strong> This is purely a visual change - in terms of the game's code, dairy is still dairy, so this mod won't break any mods that add dairy products.</li> <li>The <strong>lump of fat</strong> and <strong>rendered fat</strong> items <strong>now provide Fat nutrition</strong> instead of protein. To balance out the new availability of this nutrient category in the early game, <strong>its saturation has been halved.</strong> It's so useful for so many other things too that you'll have to weigh whether you want that nutritious and valuable piece of fat for yourself or if you need to use it for other purposes.</li> <li>Comes with <strong>out of the box compatibility</strong> with <a href="https://mods.vintagestory.at/cutthefat" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Cut The Fat</a> and <a href="https://mods.vintagestory.at/butchering">Butchering</a>, because I play with those mods and I was gonna freak if my fat sources didn't act correctly together. If any other mods add fat types/sources, let me know, I'll try to patch them in when I can.</li> </ul> <h3><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Roadmap?</span></h3> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Mod Compatibility</span></p> <ul> <li>Add compatibility with the oils from Wildcraft: Fruits and Nuts, Oils! From Seed to Substance, MAYBE Expanded Foods once it's on a stable release. Will depend on their existing properties.</li> <li>See if I can do anything with Expanded Stomach and/or Body Fat to make Fat, well, make you fatter faster? This one's a big "if" and sounds very complicated so it's a low priority for me.</li> </ul> <h3><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Known Issues</span></h3> <ul> <li>Really just a nitpick: because the mod changes the entire Dairy nutrition category, certain modded items now give an inappropriate nutrition type (<em>ie. tofu from Wildcraft or from the Pemmican and Tofu mod now give Fat nutrition, which is even more wrong</em>). I have made a separate patch, <a href="https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/37184">Jacked Soy</a>, to rectify that.</li> <li>I had originally intended to add the Fat nutrition type to foods from other mods <em>in addition</em> to their existing nutrition types (<em>ie. the sausages from Butchering, various fish types, etc.</em>) but it is unfortunately not possible to do without custom code, and that's beyond the scope of this mod and my current capabilities as a modder. Currently, they just replace the original typing.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Other than that, this mod is incredibly small and I can't imagine it having any problems.
