Infinite Torches (fixed)

Torches will have an infinite life (can still be put out by rain/water)

Infinite Torches (fixed)

Description

This is a fix of Infinite Torches, and if you've given that a try then you know it doesn't work out of the gate. This is because you need to unzip it out of the zipped file. Since it's been over 2 years like this, and since I run some private multiplayer content with friends, I've grown tired of forgetting this mod can't be automatically downloaded and applied by someone joining the game, so I'm just trying to upload the fix.

Update 5/11/2026: In my personal testing this has continued to work without further changes. I wasn't expecting it to break, because it's a patch to a specific value and has no actual code, but I figured I'd just update the mod to make it clear.

Alternative Mod Recommendations

If you want a mod that gives torches an absurdly high burn time instead, maybe look into the similiarly named "Infinite Torch" mod.

If you want torches to avoid the burned-out stage (allowing them to go out at the end of the timer but be re-lightable), then you should go for Torch Relight Continued.

If you have bad luck finding aged torch holders AND cannot find and visually identify zinc to save your life (this is me, I'm calling out myself), I recommend Torch Holder Smithing Plus. I also recommend this if you ever go "I would love it if torch holders came in more metal types."

What this mod does:

When a torch's timer hits zero, instrad of turning into a burned out torch, it resets itself to the lit state. This does not prevent a torch from becoming Extinguished from rain or water.

At the request of a personal friend, this now applies the same patch to manatorches in Rustbound Magic. There should be no negative impact if you do not utilize Rustbound Magic. The 1.0.0 release still only affects vanilla torches, if you'd like to be extra-safe.

What I will do:

NEW! Attempt to figure this out and try and keep it compatible/expand compatibility. (I have zero knowledge of this stuff, but I do have the patience to bash my head against a wall for a few hours until it works.)

What I will not do:

Update/modify

I am not a coder

I am literally just posting up a fixed version, which involves giving a version that you don't need to unzip

I have done nothing

Meaningfully utilize this section for the time being

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
