Knitting

This mod disables crafting grid cloth recipes, and instead requires you to make and use knitting needles to turn twine into cloth.

Knitting needles are carved using a knife in the crafting grid, from four different materials with increasing durability: sticks, bamboo stakes, bones, and antlers. They can be stored on the ground, shelves, and display cases.

To knit, place twine in your offhand and knitting needles in your main hand, then hold interact. It takes 4 seconds to knit one piece of cloth, or 3 seconds if you're sitting down (these times are configurable), at the vanilla cost of 4 twine. Keep holding interact to knit continuously until your twine runs out.

Configuration

To edit the config options, load a world at least once, then open the KnittingConfig.json file in your ModConfig folder:

• StandingKnitTime (default: 4.0) - the time in seconds to knit a single piece of cloth when standing up.
• SittingKnitTime (default: 3.0) - the time in seconds to knit a single piece of cloth when sitting down.

Compatilibity and recommended other mods

Recommended: Immersive Fibercraft

Although not a hard dependency, this mod assumes you will use Immersive Fibercraft or similar, for later-game cloth production. Knitting is slow and laborious, and intended only as a stone age technology (or for travelling or emergencies).

Compatible: Wool & More

Crafting grid recipes for wool cloth are disabled. Wool twine can be knitted into the corresponding colour of wool cloth instead. Wool & More's own knitting needles are disabled, and replaced with this mod's knitting needles in clothing recipes.

Compatible: Tailor's Delight

Crafting grid recipes for solid-colour cloth are disabled. Coloured twine (thread) can be knitted into the corresponding colour of cloth instead. Checkered cloth grid recipes are unchanged for now.

Compatible: Butchering

Ivory can be used to make horn knitting needles.
