Not So Tasty: Wax Foods

<p>A quick and simple mod that lets you make wax replicas of fresh produce to put on display, to really sell the cozy cottage aeshetic. To make your wax replicas: Take one fresh fruit, vegetable, whole pumpkin, or whole pineapple and boil it in a cooking pot with an equal amount of beeswax (1:1 ratio), to create a wax replica of the original, identical in every way (aside from being edible or perishable).<br /><br />I <strong>strongly</strong> recommend pairing this with <a href="https://mods.vintagestory.at/foodshelves">Food Shelves</a> to fully utilize the aesthetic appeal of your in-season produce.<br /><br />Current known issues: <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">In order for the items to display the same textures as their edible counterparts in many Food Shelves containers, some of the items can currently be used as pie fillings. I recommend not doing this as the wax items provide no nutrition or satiation, and it's honestly just a waste of wax. Pies made with these items do not share the non-perishable trait as their ingredients and will still spoil and rot as normal. There will be an eventual fix for this on the Food Shelves side. Do not pester the mod author about this.</span> This issue has been fixed as of 1.0.2, update accordingly!<br /><br />If you want compat for your own mod that adds new crops and produce, give me a shout and I'll add it in.<br /><br /></p> <p><span style="font-size: 8pt;">Yes I know that boiling food in a pot with wax is not realistic. That's a project for later, this is just a simple, easy, and gamified way of handling it.</span></p>
