Raider Camps

Description

FULL DISCLOSURE:

I did use the assistance of AI to help create this mod. I have extremely limited knowledge when it comes to coding, and I relied on the guidance of AI to help walk me through a lot of the different steps. All textures and any custom shapes that I add with this mod were entirely hand made, or edited vanilla textures. I took the time to test every feature that was added to ensure it was properly working, and did my best to learn as much as I could to do on my own.

THIS IS A VERY EARLY VERSION:

This mod is in its infancy and as such may not have a ton of content, but I am actively working to add more to make it a bit more exciting. I would love feedback and will happily listen to ideas and criticisms provided!

VERSION 0.3.0 RELEASED:

Whats new?

Added a neutral NPC by the name of Bounty Clerk. This Bounty Clerk spawns in a custom guildhall/tavern structure, and gives maps to small, and medium camps. When a map is given the camp will be marked on your map and you will have to go destroy the camps banner in order to claim your reward. Once that is done you will be paid next time you interact with a bounty clerk. The clerk also has a trade window with a small amount of survival goods, and will also buy various things that raiders have chances of dropping.

Goals of this mod:

This mod aims to add humanoid enemies into the game in the form of raiders. The long term plan is to have various different "factions" of raiders that can spawn, but for now there is only one. This faction is the "Ashen Raiders".

The Ashen Raiders are a band of humans that worships a god of fire by the name of "The Burned One". Their entire ideaology revolves around burning the world and restarting from the ashes. As such they set out from their central bastion, and set up small and medium camps around the world. From these camps they begin to burn! Grass and trees become scorched and blackened and ash drifts slowly from the sky. The only way to stop it from consuming the area is to destroy the banner and kill the raiders!

Currently Adds:

1 Raider Faction: Ashen Raiders

2 small camp variants that spawn randomly through the world

1 medium camp variant that spawns a bit less often than the small camp

7 new enemies: Ashen Raider, Ashen Raider Brute, Ashen Raider Archer, Ashen Soldier, Ashen Enforcer, Ashen Marksman, and Ashen Fanatic.

The Ashen Raider is the typical grunt of the forces. Equipped with a scrap blade and no armor he is relatively simple to deal with, but they tend to attack in groups.

The Ashen Raider Brute is bigger and stronger than the average Ashen. Armed with a club and a lot of muscle, the brutes can pack a wallop and take one too!

The Ashen Raider Archer is a small guy. Armed with a crude bow they tend to try and keep their distance. They can and will punch you in the jaw if they have no other choice!

Ashen Fanatic can be spawned at low chance in small camps, and slightly higher chance in medium camps

The Fanatic uses firepots to cause chaos and destruction. Firepots burn flammable blocks and can start fires.

The enemies work in a tier system. The small camps only spawn the Raider, Brute, and Archer while the medium camp will only spawn the Soldier, Enforcer, and Marksman.

As of now the different tiers are relatively similar to eachother with the difference being damage dealt, amount of health, and loot pools.

All enemies have unique loot pools of general early game items, and all camp variants have a chest with some additional goodies.

These first enemies are designed to be perfectly fightable with early wood armor and flint weapons, but can be very dangerous. Copper gear should take them down pretty easily.

Medium tier enemies are a bit more dangerous and are a tad difficult to take on with flint and wood. Copper will suffice but it still will be a challenge. Bronze gear and above will make it a more even fight.

Future Goals:

The long term goals for this mod include adding a medium tier camp and a final bastion for the players to discover. Both new tiers will have unique versions of the raiders with better armor and stronger weapons, but also better loot. Ideally the final bastion will be at the center of its own biome, and even contain a boss type enemy in it. Once all of those features are added I would love to expand the mod to have neutral factions of humans as well, and even adding the ability to start a village of your own. The raiders would then be able to attack and pillage your village and perhaps steal or destroy things. This is all far in the future though so we shall see about all of that. The other factions that I plan on adding will likely be added before I work on anything to do with villages and what not just to ensure there is enough content in the mod to make it interesting.
