Stoneworks
Adds concrete, crushed stone aggregate, metal bricks, and more.

Description

This mod adds new gameplay uses for stone. Pour and cure concrete, make new uses of crushed stones, and craft some new stone odds and ends that weren't available before. Metal bricks ("masonry blocks") are also here, since I was adding a mold for concrete blocks as it is, and it would have been weird if it wasn't possible to use the mold for metals too.

- Several varieties of stone are newly crushable with the pulverizer. Some stones can now also be crushed manually with a hammer in the crafting grid, as it is with ore chunks.

- Crushed stone can be used to craft aggregate blocks, which have a similar appearance to gravel blocks, and aggregate paths, which give a higher movement speed bonus than wood paths but a lower bonus than normal stone paths. Aggregate paths are particularly distinct from the base game's selection of path blocks in that they come in a range of colors.

- Concrete mix can be crafted by mixing slaked lime with either gravel, crushed stone (most but not all varieties), or sintered crushed limestone (obtained by heating crushed limestone). It will have a slightly different appearance depending on which of these three types of aggregate is used. A concrete mix block is placed in the world by emptying a filled 10L bucket (same as with water), and then it takes some time to cure. While it's still curing, you can give it a rougher surface appearance by walking over it, or you can make it smooth by interacting with it using a shovel. Smooth concrete, once cured, has a slightly higher movement speed bonus than stone paths.

- Concrete mix can be cast into concrete masonry blocks using a newly added clay mold. These concrete blocks can be used to craft a similar range of things as stone ashlar blocks.

- Metals can also be formed into metal masonry blocks either by smithing or using the new mold, which can also be crafted into various things similarly to stone ashlar blocks.

- Breaking cured concrete blocks yields concrete chunks, which can be used similarly to stone to build cobblestone-like concrete blocks. They can also be crushed and recycled to be used in a new batch of concrete mix.

- Stone ashlar blocks, metal blocks, and concrete blocks can be used to craft new fence types, similar to but distinct from the base game's dry cobble fences.

- Cobblestone skull blocks are newly craftable by using skull items.

These things are not yet implemented, but might be included in a future update:

- More comprehensive varieties of crushed stone and aggregate blocks.

- Hydraulic-setting concrete should be possible to create by incorporating some additional materials into the mixture, such as pozzolanic ash (Roman cement) or clinker and gypsum (Portland cement).

- Sintered stone blocks should be available via melting and casting stone slag.

- Chickens should be happier when provided with crushed stone (grit) in addition to their base game diet.
