Vanilla Varnished Planks

This is my first mod and it is not yet finished!

Known Issues:

Food Shelves and Purposeful Storage blocks are craftable but hidden from the handbook (bug with FS/PS)

Scroll racks have incorrect names

Uncraftable figureheads not available to buy from traders

No path blocks

Boats not craftable due to bug with vanilla boatmaking (thanks Floral Zones devs for letting Anego know about this one)

What does this mod do?

This mod adds ten types of craftable wood planks and debarked logs to the game:

• Varnished oak, pine, ebony, purpleheart, acacia, bald cypress
• Oxidized maple
• Bleached walnut
• Limewashed redwood
• Sanded ebony

 

They provide a rich variety of colours to add to your builds, and can be crafted into most furniture and roofing blocks.

I know wood paint and stain mods exist- this mod was made to target missing colours in the vanilla wood palette with a focus on strong compatibility with other mods and not too much feature bloat.

Crafting

Varnish: both recipes use resin. One uses wax and fat, the other uses alcohol. These are loosely based on real varnishing substances.

Oxidization: this is done with sulfur and ferrous nails and strips. In real life, you can get the same effect with vinegar and steel wool.

Bleaching: diluted alum or borax in a barrel

Limewashing: lime solution in a barrel

Sanding: leather and sand
