Description

<h1 data-start="145" data-end="160">VS Companions</h1> <p data-start="162" data-end="347"><strong data-start="162" data-end="179">VS Companions</strong> adds a companion system to <strong data-start="207" data-end="224">Vintage Story</strong>, allowing players to travel with <strong data-start="258" data-end="303">two different companions at the same time</strong>, each with their own strengths and utility.</p> <p data-start="349" data-end="514">Both companions are designed to be useful in different situations, giving players more tactical flexibility while exploring, fighting, or simply surviving the world.</p> <p data-start="516" data-end="660">Most interactions with companions are handled through a dialogue interface, making it easier to control their behavior and manage their actions.</p> <h2 data-start="662" data-end="680">Companion Modes</h2> <p data-start="682" data-end="731">Companions currently support four behavior modes:</p> <p data-start="733" data-end="847"><strong data-start="733" data-end="743">Follow</strong><br data-start="743" data-end="746" />The companion follows the player and actively engages threats. This is the main combat-oriented mode.</p> <p data-start="849" data-end="942"><strong data-start="849" data-end="857">Wait</strong><br data-start="857" data-end="860" />The companion stays exactly where it was ordered and ignores surrounding activity.</p> <p data-start="944" data-end="1021"><strong data-start="944" data-end="955">Neutral</strong><br data-start="955" data-end="958" />The companion will not attack enemies unless directly provoked.</p> <p data-start="1023" data-end="1144"><strong data-start="1023" data-end="1033">Gather</strong><br data-start="1033" data-end="1036" />The companion can search for random loot every 8 in-game hours. This value can be adjusted in <span style="background-color: #f1c40f;"><code data-start="1130" data-end="1143">config/companions-gather.json</code>.</span></p> <h2 data-start="1146" data-end="1167">Companion Crafting</h2> <p data-start="1169" data-end="1251">The mod also includes a <strong data-start="1193" data-end="1214">special workbench</strong> used for companion-related crafting.</p> <p data-start="1253" data-end="1401">This workbench is used to assemble parts, craft components, and handle companion creation through a dedicated system built specifically for the mod.</p> <h2 data-start="1403" data-end="1419">Teleportation</h2> <p data-start="1421" data-end="1498">Companions can teleport to their owner only while they are in an active mode.</p> <p data-start="1500" data-end="1605">If a companion is set to <strong data-start="1525" data-end="1533">Wait</strong>, it becomes inactive and will not react to events or teleport commands.</p> <h2 data-start="1607" data-end="1627">Assistance System</h2> <p data-start="1629" data-end="1730">If a companion drops below 1 HP, it will automatically switch into <strong data-start="1696" data-end="1704">Wait</strong> mode and become inactive.</p> <p data-start="1732" data-end="1781">While inactive, it cannot execute commands until:</p> <ul data-start="1783" data-end="1873"> <li data-start="1783" data-end="1823"> <p data-start="1785" data-end="1823">it regenerates enough health naturally</p> </li> <li data-start="1824" data-end="1873"> <p data-start="1826" data-end="1873">the player repairs it using a <strong data-start="1856" data-end="1873">Temporal Gear</strong></p> </li> </ul> <p data-start="1875" data-end="1976">Companions can also be repaired during combat by holding a <strong data-start="1934" data-end="1951">Temporal Gear</strong> and right-clicking them.</p> <h2 data-start="1978" data-end="2001">Ownership Protection</h2> <p data-start="2003" data-end="2106">The mod includes an ownership system that prevents other players from taking control of your companion.</p> <p data-start="2108" data-end="2166">Once bonded, a companion belongs permanently to its owner.<br /><br />If you lose your companions, you can remove the binding using the commands:&nbsp;<br /><span style="background-color: #f1c40f;">vscompanions-reset (player)</span><br />or for an individual companion:<br /><span style="background-color: #f1c40f;">vscompanions-resettype (player) (entitycode)</span><br />to find out (entity code):<br /><span style="background-color: #f1c40f;">vscompanions-info (player)</span><br />All these commands are available only to <span style="background-color: #e74c3c;">server admins!</span></p> <h2 data-start="2168" data-end="2183">HUD Settings</h2> <p data-start="2185" data-end="2255">The mod includes a configurable HUD for companion-related information.</p> <p data-start="2257" data-end="2319">By default, the HUD settings can be opened with <strong data-start="2305" data-end="2318">Shift + F</strong>.</p> <h2 data-start="2321" data-end="2327">PvP</h2> <p data-start="2329" data-end="2452">Companions are not intended to function as PvP assistants and will not actively participate in player-versus-player combat.</p> <p data-start="2454" data-end="2523">However, players may still use them as mobile storage if they choose.</p> <h2 data-start="2525" data-end="2540">Future Plans</h2> <p data-start="2542" data-end="2586">Planned features for future updates include:</p> <ul data-start="2588" data-end="2840"> <li data-start="2588" data-end="2661"> <p data-start="2590" data-end="2661">a <strong data-start="2592" data-end="2621">Companion Operating Table</strong> inspired by systems similar to <em data-start="2653" data-end="2661">Kenshi</em></p> </li> <li data-start="2662" data-end="2701"> <p data-start="2664" data-end="2701"><span style="text-decoration: line-through;">companion creation through this table</span>✅</p> </li> <li data-start="2702" data-end="2726"> <p data-start="2704" data-end="2726">upgradeable companions</p> </li> <li data-start="2727" data-end="2753"> <p data-start="2729" data-end="2753"><span style="text-decoration: line-through;">unique companion classes</span>✅</p> </li> <li data-star
