Grinding Stone

<p>This mod adds a grinding stone - a new way to grind materials.</p> <ul> <li>The grinding stone is available as early as the stone age.</li> <li>It can be created by knapping from the same kinds of stones the base game querns can be made from: Granite, Andesite, Basalt or Peridotite.</li> <li>Place the grindable item on the grinding stone and then use a loose stone on it to grind it down.</li> <li>The grinding process is much slower than with the quern and is only limited to one item at a time.</li> <li>Not every grindable item can be processed on the grinding stone - only the smaller and softer ones such as: <ul> <li>Chalk stones (not limestone!)</li> <li>Halite stones</li> <li>Sulfur chunks</li> <li>Sylvite chunks</li> <li>Borax</li> <li>Charcoal</li> <li>Small bones</li> <li>Seashells</li> <li>Grains</li> </ul> </li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>With this mod:</p> <ul> <li>Bread making is now available as early as the Stone Age, as long as you have some clay to make bowls to collect water. <ul> <li>If you don't have access to fire clay, you can still cook charred bread at a firepit using the base game recipe.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Honey-sulfur poultices (especially the reed ones) are now available as early as the Stone Age, as long as you have access to honey.</li> <li>Pickling and curing can be available much earlier, since you can now actually grind halite stones bought from a trader into salt (barrels for pickling can also be bought from a trader).</li> <li>Making pitch glue is now available earlier, since you can grind charcoal down into powdered charcoal.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Future plans:</p> <ul> <li>A better way to craft these grinding stones, as knapping makes them a bit too easily available. Perhaps it would be better to utilize loose boulder blocks somehow.</li> </ul>
