Use Immersive Backpacks instead.

This mod is now DEPRECATED, the page and GitHub will remain up for anyone to analyze and/or fork.

Immersive Backpack Overhaul

Simple handbook guide provided in Wearable Container Slot Restrictions.

For configurable size patches, see IBO Bag Size Configs. This mod without the configs, by default, will make it so inventory space is a resource that has to be thought about, invested into and managed.

Have you ever found it odd that a seraph can just sling 4 backpacks onto their back? Has this put you off in a game where most things are fairly grounded? Do you have a mod like Primitive Backpacks and ever wished that you had any reason at all to use anything except 4 crate backracks? Do you wish there was some depth and nuance to the bag system outside of 'rush 4 sturdy backpacks'?

If so, this mod could interest you.

Features (Base)

Prevents large backpacks from going into anything but the fourth bag slot, preventing you from wearing more than one large back item at a time. The first two slots only accept pouches and other small bag items (which this mod has a few of), and the third slot will only accept a pouch or a medium storage item (currently baskets, sacks and miner bags, and the legpouch from Ithania).

Hopefully, this will encourage a more diverse arsenal of bags, especially when specialized profession pouches are added in the future. I hope to promote the careful planning of one's loadout instead of blindly going for the best backpack items in the game and getting 4 of them, then never thinking about it.

Comes with off-the-bat compatibility with Ithania Backpacks and Primitive Backpacks. You have a reason to craft those special backracks, now.

Roadmap

N/A

Compatibility

Compatible off the bat with Ithania Backpacks, Primitive Backpacks, Butchery and Vintage Kinematics. Generally does not require compatibility patches. If you want compatibility with the bag mod of your choice, the patch format for each bag is:

{
"file": "mybagmod:itemtypes/wearable/bag/mybag.json",
"op": "addMerge",
"path": "/attributes",
"value": {
"iboBagSize": "bagsmall" OR "bagmedium"
},
"dependsOn": [ { "modid": "mybagmod" } ]
},

Where bagsmall is used for pouches and other small containers that you would usually attach to your belt, while bagmedium is for satchels, large purses, baskets (and handhelds in general), sacks and such. Back items require no BagSize tag.

Credits

pictma - The wonderful pouch models and textures.
