Immersive Quicklime
LBy LilianaXolkiyr
Tired of having to grind and then cook lime to make Quicklime? Wish there was an easier way?
Description
Immersive Quicklime adds new bulk, world-based ways to produce quicklime and calcinated flint in Vintage Story.
Instead of relying only on standard crafting, you can now burn limestone/chalk/marble/coral or flint in dedicated pit structures inspired by charcoal pits and pit kilns.
Special Notice
I hate that I even have to make this abundantly clear, but there has been an accusation thrown around, so let me put this to bed here and now.
- I used AI in a singular project to help flesh out a plan.md file to help me avoid Feature Creep. In my 20+ years of programming, including web design and front end/backend development, its the one thing that has killed more of my projects than anything else.
- No, I do not use AI in any of my coding projects in any way that ever becomes public facing. The code you get from me is authored by my hands alone. I'd rather do it by hand than spend 2-3 hours fixing things I could have done myself in an hour or less.
- That will never change as I have a very strong stance on taking the lazy way out in everything I do.
How it works
- Fill a lime pit with loose Limestone/Chalk/Marble Rocks, Limestone/Chalk/Marble Sand, or Coral Chunks, or fill a flint pit with Flint Beds.
- Seal the pit with non-flammable walls and cover.
- Place a Domed Grate on top.
- Load it with a valid kiln fuel.
- Ignite it and let the burn complete.
- Collect the finished Quicklime Piles or Calcinated Flint Piles.
Flint Beds
(Only needed for placing flint, all other stones place as normal ground storage)
- Making a Flint Bed: Start by making a Firepit, but before placing the Firewood, flatten(Right Click) with a rock of your choice. Then Right Click the bed with Flint to load it.
- Use: Flint Beds are the required pit material for producing Calcinated Flint Chunks.
Production Rules
- Conversion ratio: Every 2 Rocks/Coral Chunks/Flint produce 3 Quicklime or 3 Calcinated Flint Chunks, depending on the batch.
- Sand value: One full Limestone/Chalk/Marble Sand block counts as the equivalent of a full ground storage of 64 Limestone/Chalk/Marble Rocks.
- Size limit: Pits can be built up to 5x5x1.
- Burn time: Burn duration depends on pit size and fuel type. Larger pits take much longer, and different fuels provide different burn times.
Features
- Immersive lime and flint pit burning systems
- Domed grate kiln cap made from fired fire clay bricks
- Supports pit-kiln-style fuels with different burn times
- Bulk quicklime production through custom quicklime piles
- Bulk calcinated flint production through custom calcinated flint piles
- Works with loose limestone/chalk/marble rock piles, limestone/chalk/marble sand blocks, coral chunk piles, and flint beds
- Reusable grate with a chance to break after successful burns
- Editable lime source config in VintagestoryData/ModConfig for defining what counts as a valid quicklime-producing material
- Supports full item-code pattern matching in the config, allowing other mods to add their own quicklime source materials
Notes
- Designed for players who want a more physical, in-world lime and flint burning process.
- Vanilla quicklime progression is still left intact.
- Flint processing uses the same ratios as the quicklime system, but produces Calcinated Flint Chunks instead.
Notices
- Right now the Real Smoke compatibility patch I put in does not work. I'm working with a friend in trying to fix it.
