Item Recycle

<p><strong>Summary:</strong><br /><br />This mod is my first mod for Vintage Story. <em>This mod is mostly intended for use on the Vector Online Gaming Vintage Story server.</em> The focus is to make non-renewable item crafts, such as those that contain metal, able to be recycled for non-renewable materials back.<br /><br /><br /><strong>Pre-requisites:</strong><br /><br />This mod works best with, but does not require XSkills. This mod was balanced with XSkills in mind to try and avoid any net gain loops (free materials back at a profit) when a smith with Metal Recovery level 3 is doing the craft work.<br /><br /><br /><strong>Usage &amp; Formula:</strong><br /><br />To recycle an item, place a chisel in the crafting grid above the item you want to break down to metal bits. Only the metal will be returned.<br /><br />The formula for calculating returns is as follows:<br /><br />[20 bits (1 ingot worth)] - [how many metal bits are returned during smithing (with XSkills installed and a smith with Metal Recovery level 3)] = [metal bits gained when recyling the item].<br /><br />Multiple items smithed per single ingot, such as the 9 arrowheads smithing option, will have the recovery results divided by the amount of items created per ingot and rounded down to the nearest whole number.<br /><br />Metal bits returned per item when broken back down:<br /><br /><br /><strong>Recipes:</strong><br /><br />Arrow: 1<br />Axe: 18<br />Blackguard Shortsword: 14<br />Chisel: 7<br />Cleaver: 17<br />Falx: 19<br />Hammer: 19<br />Hoe: 5<br />Knife: 8<br />Pickaxe: 11<br />Prospecting Pick: 7<br />Saw: 10<br />Scythe: 10<br />Shears: 11<br />Shovel: 17<br />Spear: 15<br /><br />* All tool and weapon heads can be broken down as well.<br /><br /><br /><strong>Planned Additions:</strong><br /><br />- Metal Accessories<br />- Metal Shields<br /><br /><br /><strong>As of Oct 2025 work is being done to make sure this mod is fully compatable with 1.21.x versions.<br /><br />Want to talk about this mod, help with finding items or varients of items to add, test, or play the game with me can add me on Discord as Deszeraeth.
