Sliding Windows
Adds openable glass windows which are craftable from glass and planks.

Description

Want openable glass windows? Need a sink for all your lead and solder?

Look no further...

Now you can craft slideable glass windows from glass slabs or leaded glass and wood planks. If you want matching swinging doors or trapdoors, check out the content-only mods Glass Doors and Glass Trapdoors.

What's new

v1.3.1 (latest)

- Added compatibility patches that fix transparency rendering while animated/open for the other glass window/door mods
- Moved rain sounds to the *Weather* group instead of *Ambient* and normalized volume against other weather sounds.
- Fixed a bug with glass pane texture sizing that was only noticeable on leaded windows

v1.3

- Added 3x2 horizontally sliding doors (made from a pair of 3x1 fixed windows, also included in this mod)

- Reworked animation rendering so that opened doors don't cause items to disappear behind them

- Collapsed the handbook entries into one page for each size, and grouped display of the windows on other handbook pages

v1.2

- Added dynamic rain and hail sounds while indoors during precipitation

- Added support for a modconfig and (untested!) ConfigLib (optional) so you can turn off the rain sounds

v1.1

- Added 2x2 horizontally sliding doors (made from a pair of 2x1 fixed windows, also included in this mod)

v1.0

- Added 2x1 vertically sliding windows (made from a pair of 1x1 fixed windows, also included in this mod)

Behaviors and features

Unlike vanilla doors, these variants are horizontally centered within the block footprint (like leaded glass panes, in the middle of the block).

For vertical windows, the bottom sash opens up when interacted with.

For horizontal windows (patio doors) the side with the handle is the one that moves, and they retain the same auto-mirror logic and coordinated opening as vanilla.

All sliding windows are airtight when closed, just like doors. Fixed windows are airtight always.

Windows have real collision, too. The hitbox for the vertical window leaves just less than one block height clear at the bottom when open.

Works with RealSmoke and supports all Wildcraft tree species.

These are based heavily on the vanilla doors so should inherit almost all of those behaviors and attributes (with the exception of rotation on opened).

Example mod config:

{ "EnableRainSoundsOnWindows": true, "EnableRainSoundsOnAllGlass": false, "VolumeScale": 1.0 }

Expand for instructions on editing the modconfig

EnableRainSoundsOnWindows controls whether to hear the rain at all.
false
will remove rain sounds completely. default is
true

EnableRainSoundsOnAllGlass controls whether to play these sounds on all Glass materials in vanilla.
true
will give you more rain sounds. default is
false
. This hasn't been tested a lot, so use at your own risk, and let me know how it goes. These would play on top of any other rain sounds (like what leaded panes already use)

VolumeScale lets you increase or decrease the volume of these sounds. They're already part of your "Weather" game sounds, but if you want them quieter or louder, you can adjust to any number between
0.0
(muted) and
2.0
(twice as loud as default, which is
1.0
).

Compatibility & Known issues

- Vintage Story glass transparency rendering bug (expand for details) -- affects whether particles are visible through windows (RealSmoke and XV Shaders, etc) fixed (with a workaround) in 1.3

Weighted Order Independent Transparency makes transparent things block everything behind them

There is a known rendering bug in VS that sometimes occludes (hides) other transparent blocks and particle effects if they're behind a partially-transparent object, like these windows or regular leaded glass panes and blocks. The bug is more than 3 years old now so I don't know when it'll get fixed. If you know something about weighted order independent transparency rendering, give it a shot and let us know how it goes.

- Wildcrafttree woods are compatible, as long as you aren't mixing vanilla and wildcrafttree wood materials. (just pick one or the other library)

- As far as I know, none of these recipes conflict with other mods, but let me know if they do!

- You don't have to use ConfigLib to edit the modconfig, and I don't use it personally, but I did try to make it ConfigLib compatible. Please test it and let me know if it's wonky.

Notes, Etc.

Some credits:

- LunaTheFox for the genius suggestion to use lead solder for these recipes. What else are you gonna do with it?</
