Potential bandaid for server rubber banding

Rubberbandaid

Description

This Mod is no longer needed as of Vintage Story 1.22

Rubberbandaid is a tiny mod for potentially fixing rubberbanding if you are experiencing it on a more heavily modded server. (This is NOT a cureall, please first and foremost practice safe and smart modding practices)

There is one config option that generates when the mod is first initialized. This is defaulted to 20 which is double the vanilla amount and for most use cases should help people without any additional tweaking. For maximum performance I recommend tweaking the amount to best suit your server.

Higher numbers can adversely affect performance so please don't set it to some really high number thinking it will magically make your server perform better. Start at 10 (vanilla amount) and keep increasing slowly until rubber banding stops. Try to set the lowest possible number to where you no longer experience rubber banding for best results.

This mod is required on both server and client.

This might also help rubber banding if you are experiencing it in singleplayer, but I wouldn't count on it.

How it works:

Vintage Story has a hard limit on how many simultaneous "mark dirty" (essentially anything that needs to sync from the server) calls happen per tick on player entities before a trigger is hit that forces a full resync of all attributes to the client which is what causes the rubber band effect. The default limit is 10, and this mod raises that to whatever you set in the config.

For non technical users this can be a mostly install it and forget it mod, but I do highly recommend advanced users to tweak with the number to find the best result.

This mod is already prepackaged with my mod Hydrate or Diedrate, if you use that mod, simply turn it on in the configs for that mod, no need to install this.

Compatibility:
Should be compatible with any mod that doesn't touch the MarkPathDirty method in SyncedTreeAttribute

Note: This mod is entirely untested, and I am not liable for any damage you might cause on your server by installing this mod. Install at your own discretion.
