Enjoy the voyage.

Walk, crouch and jump on the Vanilla sailboat and supported Shipwright boats, even while sailing. Raise the sail while walking on the deck. No more need to be seated.

Fall overboard? With the default setting enabled, the sail is tucked when nobody remains aboard.

Singleplayer and multiplayer · Install on both server and clients
Vanilla sailboat included · Shipwright support is optional, but working
Yang's Transport Tycoon included · Still a little jittery, but I try to make it as smooth as with the boats.

See it in motion

What changes?

Move around your existing boats, with no replacement items or new recipes.

Keep sailing while standing. Steering and rowing remain unchanged.

Supported seats and storage containers have collisions that update when equipment changes.

Getting started

Install the mod.

Load a world.

Hop on a boat.

Lower the sail and enjoy standing and walking on your deck, while the ship carries you accross the ocean.

Sometimes Shipwright seat exits can be refused when no free deck position is available. Look down at the seat and right click it. You should unseat like you would have when pressing the crouch button.

No unattended sailing away under power: when the last living player leaves the boat, dies or logs out, the mod rises its sail so the boat will not continue its journey without you.

Train compatibility

Optional support for Yang's Transport Tycoon: walk aboard the Primitive, Simple, Standard and Advanced standard-gauge locomotives, supported passenger wagons, engine carts and the flatbed minecart. Boxcar and Fridge wagons have no accessible interiors.

Known limitation: slight visual jitter can still occur on moving trains. The boat movement is unaffected. The automatic sail safety feature applies to supported sailing boats, not trains. Also you can get damage because of the YTT damage collision function. I will try to work something out so you can walk on trains and not get damage.

Configuration

The server or singleplayer world uses
ModConfig/WalkableEntitiesConfig.json
:

{ "AllowUnseatedSailing": true }

Set this to
false
to retain the original seated-propulsion requirement. Walking on deck still works. Automatic sail lowering when nobody remains aboard belongs to this option and is disabled with it.

Questions before setting sail?

But Lex, there is already PhysicsLib. Why this?
PhysicsLib didn't work for me. I couldn't move in regular speed on the boat and it wouldn't let me sail while walking. Therefore my own version of walkable entities.

Does it make every vehicle walkable?
No. It supports the boats and Yang trains described above, plus entities explicitly integrated by other mods.

Can I transport freely walking animals this way?
Not yet. The platform system currently carries players. It does not add free-roaming animal transport; existing native passenger or attachment systems remain separate.

Does installing this change my boat's inventory?
Existing boat entities and their inventories remain in their native format. The mod adds walkable collision handling rather than converting boats into a new entity type.

Does this add boat ownership or land-claim protection?
No. Sail operation uses the existing game or Shipwright interaction path. Do not assume every claim or protection mod prevents boat use: server owners should test
